Hameed al-Abed: Russian guarantor must bide by its promises relating to occupied territories

Hamid al-Abed , the co-chair of the occupied canton of Girê Spî /Tel Abyad said that the Turkish attack had displaced 60,000 civilians from the occupied canton, and he called on Russia to fulfill its promises, stop the violations and secure the safe return for the displaced to their homes.

The co-chairman of Girê Spî Council, Hamid al-Abed's talk came in an interview with reporters of our agency about the Russia's promises, regarding the Turkish violations in the occupied areas of northern Syria.

A delegation from Girê Spî/Tel Abyad Canton Council and representatives of the residents of the canton, led by the co-chairs of Girê Spî Canton’s Council, Hamid al-Abed and Hevin Ismail visited the Russian base in Ain Issa district on the 10th of this month and met with the Russian generals who promised to stop the Turkish violations , secure the international road M4 and secure their return to their cities.

Al-Abed said: "They had previous experiences and knowledge of the Turkish ambitions in the region through its occupation of Syrian cities formerly such as Afrin and Jarablus."

"Unfortunately, we have only found complicity from the international community towards what is happening, as it didn't respond or take action despite many appeals from us to stop the Turkish violations," he said.

Al-Abed pointed out that the number of the displaced people from the city of Girê Spî and its countryside as a result of the Turkish attack had exceeded 60 thousands, including more than 3,000 employees, who were in diaspora, the majority of whom lived in al-Raqqa city, which had been suppressed previously and its infrastructure had suffered before its liberation from ISIS. Moreover, it was unable to include the large numbers estimated 30,000 displaced people .

In his speech, he reiterated his appeal for the international community and the Russian guarantor to end the suffering of the displaced, and secure a safe return for them to their city and villages, noting that they were surprised of the Russian guarantor silence relating to the practices of the Turkish occupation towards their villages without fulfilling its promises.

"All the displaced who have left Girê Spî canton refuse to return to it as long as it is under occupation and violations are practiced there against the safe people," al-Abd said.

"Turkey's policy is clear and easy to understand, as it is changing the demographics of the region by bringing in the families of mercenaries who help them to achieve their ambitions, and settling them in the homes of the native people after displacing them." al-Abd said.

"They have documented more than 140 mercenaries’ names who are helping Erdogan to achieve his ambitions; however, we find international silence about what he is committing against the people of the region."

Al-Abed appealed to the international community to help the people of northeast Syria to stop the Turkish violations against the safe people who never attacked their neighbors.

It is worth to mention that the population of Girê Spî canton is about 170,000, while more than 60,000 of whom were displaced after the Turkish offensive.

Sources confirmed to our agency that the majority of those who remained in the occupied territories were subjected to violations and harassment by the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation; imprisonment, kidnapping and looting of property, where there were several demonstrations inside the occupied territories against these practices, including a demonstration in the towns of al-Ali, Bajliya, Khirbet al-Rez and Karmaza.
