"The Journalist" short movie highlights Kurdish journalists’ struggle in Rojava

In order to shed light on the struggle of Kurdish journalists and the reality of the media in Rojava and the dangers surrounding the warlords in it, a group of young Kurds initiated to produce a short film with simple self-possibilities that simulated this reality, which was shown at a short film festival in Iraq.

The short film, entitled "The Journalist", was filmed in Serekaniye region before its occupation by Turkey and its mercenaries, and its subject mimics the reality of the Kurdish journalists in Rojava who work in places of wars and fronts, and from their knowledge they aim to transfer the reality of their areas that have been attacked for several years, whether by ISIS mercenaries or by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and by the resistance and struggle of their people against these attacks to public opinion, and the film shows that for the sake of that goal, journalists are giving their lives.

This film is directed by the Kurdish youth Mahran Abdo, and the scenario of Fatima Ahmed, and photographed and edited by the correspondent of our agency ANHA Basel Rashid, in addition to the participation of a number of young men and women from Rojava in the acting and preparation of the film.

This film was shown at the Community Security Festival in Basra Governorate, Iraq this year, and it is also planned to be shown at the Marrakech International Short Film Festival in Morocco to be held in early 2020.

During the revolution of Rojava, North and East Syria, hundreds of Kurdish young men and women working in the media field who participated in the revolution of their people appeared in their media work, and conveyed the reality of their revolution to public and international opinion, which had a great impact in introducing the world to this revolution, and during their work that was most of it on the fronts, many journalists were targeted and attacked, whether by ISIS mercenaries or by the Turkish occupation and the rest of its mercenaries. As a result, dozens of media workers were martyred and wounded in Rojava, North and East Syria, and they convey their sincere message to the world, some of them are the martyrs of our agency "Rizgar Deniz, Delishan Ibish, and Hogir Muhammad who were martyred in the countryside of Deir Ezzor as a result of a suicide attack by ISIS mercenaries, in addition to the martyrdom of our reporter Saad Ahmed while the Turkish occupation aircraft targeted a civilian convoy that was heading towards Serekaniye to open a humanitarian corridor for the injured and a number of other journalists accompanying the convoy were wounded.
