Al-Sisi: Accord government is a prisoner of militia, Egypt affected by instability in Libya

The Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, indicated that the Accord government in Libya "does not have free will because it is a prisoner of the militias in the capital," noting that Egyptian national security has been severely affected by the unstable situation in Libya.

Al-Sisi said yesterday: "The first of us was direct intervention in Libya, and we have the ability to do so, but we did not, because the Libyan people will not forget to directly interfere in their security."

The Egyptian President stated that Libya has become a transit country for the launch of illegal immigration to Libya.

Al-Sisi’s statements came after the Libyan embassy in Cairo announced that it would suspend its operations indefinitely for security reasons starting from Sunday.

A number of diplomats at the Libyan Embassy in Cairo had issued a statement two days ago confirming their defection from Accord government because of the agreement they signed with Turkey, and announced their support for the military operation of the Libyan National Army to liberate Tripoli.

The agreement signed between Turkey and the Accord government headed by Fayez al-Sarraj provoked regional and international anger, and the Libyan parliament considered what al-Sarraj did as a great betrayal.
