Mohammed Shahin: We discussed Turkey’s violations with Russian delegation

Mohammed Shahin, the deputy chairman of the Euphrates region's Executive Board, made the remarks in a private interview with our agency following a closed meeting to media outlets with a Russian  delegation that visited Kobanê city on Tuesday noon.

Mohammed Shahin explained that the most important thing discussed with the Russian delegation had been the Turkish attack and its mercenaries’ on Ain Issa district, which violated the Sochi Agreement agreed on 22 October between Turkey and Russia.

He added, "We discussed with the Russian delegation the role of Russian forces in this region, the difficult humanitarian situation in the region after the Turkish invasion, and the discussion of a joint organizational mechanism between the Autonomous Administration (AA) and the Russian government on the ground to maintain the security, safety and stability of the region."

Mohammed Shahin described the meeting as "good to establish a mechanism to develop relations with the Russian government and the Autonomous Administration in the interest of the people and the region."

He also said that the Russian delegation had assured them that they had been here to protect the region and to counter any threat against it.

Regarding the Turkish invasion of Ain Issa, Shahin said, “This issue was one of the most important topics discussed at the meeting. We discussed in particular the violation of Turkey and its mercenaries to the Sochi Agreement despite the commitment of the Syrian Democratic Forces to the agreement. The Russian delegation made promises that Turkish attacks will stop over the next few days on Ain Issa and the international road."
