Afrin women confirmed to escalate struggle against all forms of violence

Under the slogan, “Occupation Is Violence. With Spirit of Hevrin’s Resistance, We Exterminate Occupation and Fascism,” Kongra Star organized on Monday a massive demonstration in Tel Qerah village in al-Shahba canton in coincidence with the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women, in which hundreds of women from Afrin and al-Shahba cantons participated.

The participants held banners with, “Free Life for Women,” “Protect Your Soil and Dignity, and End Occupation and ISIS,” “Our Will Is Stronger Than Your Violence” written on, the pictures of the leader Abdullah Ocalan and the martyrs of the Resistance of Dignity; Hevrin Khalaf and Amara, in addition to the flags of Kongra Star and the Women Protection Units (YPJ).

The demonstration launched from the main road of Tel Qerah village towards Serdem camp in Ahdath district in al-Shahba canton. As the people reached to the camp’s square, they stood a minute of silence. After that, the administrator in Kongra Star in Afrin canton Fatima Suleiman and the administrator in Kongra Star in al-Shahba canton Rehab Jebbo delivered a speech. The speeches addressed the women’s role in the areas of north and east Syria to repel terrorism and liberate the area.

The speeches also touched upon the forms of violence to which women were exposed to at the hands of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries.

The speeches also confirmed the need to escalate struggle and resistance against all forms of occupation and violence.

The activity also included a theatrical performance by an art band related to the Golden Crescent Movement about the violence and violations practiced by the Turkish occupation against the women and children.
