Iran says it rejects any Turkish attack on Syrian territory

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Monday evening on developments in northern and eastern Syria, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, whose country occupies parts of the Syrian territory and is abandoning its inhabitants and follows Turkification policy, claimed that they respect the territorial integrity of Syria and that their possible attack on northern and eastern Syria is a temporary measure.

Turkey seeks to occupy the Syrian territory included by Milli Charter, which includes Aleppo, northern and eastern parts of Syria, as well as Iraqi Mosul and Kirkuk, by supporting mercenary groups, it strives to occupy this area under the pretext of protecting its security.

However, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif rejected any Turkish attack, stressing the need to respect the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Syria.

Zarif, who opposed the Turkish attack, called on the Turkish side to implement the Adana Agreement signed between the Turkish and Syrian regimes in 1998 and targeting the Kurds in Syria.

This call comes at a time when Turkey threatens to occupy the north and east of Syria and the displacement of its population of Kurds, Arabs and Syriac and the settlement of loyalists.

Turkey occupies the cities of Jarablus, al-Bab, Azaz, Afrin, and Idlib. Turkey claimed that it would return Syrian refugees to it, but transferred the families of its Syrian mercenaries fighting with it to the area and claims that 350,000 people were returned.

More recently, after Erdogan's AK Party lost the March municipal elections, especially in Istanbul, the ruling party authorities began arresting Syrians in the city and relocating them voluntarily to Idlib, which was being bombed by the Syrian and Russian regime.
