Women of Deir ez-Zor celebrate International Women's Day, salute resistance of Leyla Guven

The activity was attended by women, members of civic institutions, local councils and the Women's Educational Bureau, decorated in folkloric attire as well as female fighters from Women's Protection Units (YPJ).

During the celebration, the Women's Administration in Deir ez-Zor issued a statement which was read by the member of Women Bureau, Maria al-Ahmad, in which she said:

"We do not forget the resistance of the women of Deir ez-Zor and YPJ in the face of the largest terrorist organization, which worked to change the mindset of society and the enslavement of women and wanted to erase their character.

However, thanks to the will of the woman, she managed to bring down her alleged capital and liberate every area of Syria's land. The resistance of women continues and the struggle of Leyla Guven is the greatest evidence and an example of the strong free will. She spent her 120 days in her strike to meet her demands to lift the isolation imposed on the leader Ocalan, we will become armed with awareness and will to achieve our goals.

The statement also condemned the crime committed by mercenaries in the village of al-Bagouz in the massacre of 50 Yazidi women, and condemned the violations of the Turkish occupation and mercenaries against women in Afrin and the areas they occupied from Syria.
