Amjed Othman: SDF succeeded to achieve national unity

As the end of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign in the final stage of the "battle to defeat terrorism" against IS mercenaries in the last strongholds in the southern countryside of Deir ez-Zor approaches, the political process in Syria witnesses foggy atmospheres as the crisis enters its eighth year without finding a solution.

Hawar news agency conducted an interview with the spokesman of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD), Amjed Othman, to talk about approaching the battle against IS led by SDF and support of the Global Coalition to its end, and the impact on the political process in Syria.

Othman said that SDF proved to be the only force that is organized to fill all gaps in the face of all those who tried to intervene in this region (north and east of Syria) of the terrorist organizations and the forces affiliated with them.

He added, "SDF have managed to achieve several important issues for our regions, Syria and the whole region, where the only region's people from Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Syriacs and Turkmens were able to unite behind one gun in the face of IS terrorist organization. SDF have succeeded in achieving this equation."

Othman highlighted the social conflicts (religious and sectarian) that broke out in various Syrian regions. He pointed out that SDF in northern and eastern Syria succeeded in achieving national unity to confront the terrorist organizations.

Othman said that SDF's campaign against the mercenaries in the region is closing to completion where basing on the local capabilities and forces and in coordination with the Global Coalition troops, our forces succeeded in achieving a heroic victory over terrorism.

He said that while the society was threatened with collapse and exposed to grave dangers, especially the strives that many parties tried to spread among the society, as well as attempts to undermine the intellectual and cultural structure of the society, SDF saved our society, and managed to preserve the civil peace and social unity in the face of these strives, and to block any interference aims at weakening the society in order to control it in addition to implementing agendas that serve the interests of many parties except for the interests of the Syrian people.

Amjed Othman explained that stability in Syria needs a political and national formula to solve the radical problems that have been rising during the crisis years and those existed before it.

The spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD), Amjed Othman, concluded that the solution lies in the drafting of a new constitution by the Syrians, and not to exclude any Syrian party with real and effective representation on the ground and added, "The Syrian issue has become an international issue par excellence as a result of the international interventions so that we think that the Syrian-Syrian dialogue should be organized under international auspices to be continued and successful to go towards a new Syria that guarantees all the rights of the Syrians, and no place for neither terrorism nor tyranny is existed."
