Kongra Star in Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood managed to organize women under the war circumstances and took important steps in the path of women's freedom in all aspects.

During Rojava revolution, women showed their role in organizing and protecting the different levels of philosophy and ideology of Ocalan and left their own character, and their resistance has reached to all women in the world.

Women of Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood began their steps in organization: by forming the Women's House and its committees through training and informing them about the history and importance of women, to the establishment of special women's councils and communes, making important organizational and social achievements.

The women of the neighborhood faced the attacks by organization and resistance

Sheikh Maksoud's women played a major role during the attacks on the neighborhood by the mercenary gangs of the Turkish occupation on 16 February 2016.

After the Turkish mercenaries declared their war on the inhabitants of the neighborhood, the members of Kongra Star had proved their leading role without paying heed to the war circumstances to become victims, but they presented support and worked together.

The members took their positions in the kitchen, formed a committee that included two administrators, and 50 women working in the kitchen, which was repeatedly bombarded, preparing three meals of food for fighters a day, and resisted till the end.

The rest of the committees were made up of five members who volunteer to clean the cellars to be a safe haven for the people when the attacks intensified and secure all supplies.

Kongra Star, after a call from the medical staff, formed a committee to secure mattress to the wounded and help them in emergency situations in which the neighborhood lacked medical points.

The martyrs of Kongra Star

Gulê Salmo is the first female martyr. Gulê has been active in the organization of Kongra Star Union in the neighborhood since its inception 15/1/2005 and was a member of the People's Council in early 2012.

Fatma Hajo had also played a major role in Sheikh Maksoud martyred with a shot by the Turkish occupation after their resistance on the border.

Kongra Star expanded its work to include all women

It revitalized its institutions and formed its committees which included health, training, protection, reconciliation, diplomatic relations and economy.

The administrator in Kongra Star Siham Bilal congratulated the women of Rojava and the Middle East on the 14th anniversary of the establishment of Kongra Star and pledged to escalate the struggle to reach all women to break the restriction on their freedom and make them a victim in society, and support the struggler women.
