The neighborhood of Sheikh Maksoud in Aleppo was subjected to many attacks. The fighters of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) confronted these attacks and had major role in the resistance, until the neighborhood became known as the resistance neighborhood.

As for their resistance in the trenches of the fighting, repelling mercenaries’ attacks, and the thwarting of their plans to enter, dominating and their battles against Sheikh Maksoud's neighborhood, a number of our fighters spoke to ANHA.

Zilan Kobani, who was on the front lines of al-Mukhabarat Street in the western part of the neighborhood and participated in several battles such as al-Mukhabarat Street, 20 Street, al-Ashrafieh and participated in the liberation of the residential areas, said: "Difficult conditions have been experienced by the people of the neighborhood as a result of attacks by Turkey's mercenaries, who repeatedly wanted to exterminate the people of Sheikh Maksoud but failed because of the championships made by the people and resistance fighters (YPJ-YPG).

We did not have heavy weapons to face the attacks the mercenaries launched. They attacked the neighborhood with all kinds of heavy weapons, rockets and chemical weapons, but we believe that someone he would support us, the people of the neighborhood who stood by us in all the bitter conditions and did not leave us alone, and especially the women of the neighborhood who stood by us at every moment, they did not leave us alone, we won, here we are today we managed to thwart their plans. "

They monitored mercenary movements, stationed at the front trenches

On the role of the fighters in the battle trenches, the fighter Destina said: "The YPJ fighters were able to monitor the movements of the mercenaries and to repel their attacks and we were stationed at the front battle trenches, we did not feel weak and we had a high morale amid the intensification of the battles, we did not surrender to anything and resisted, although our comrades martyred in front of our eyes, but we stay in our place struggling till the last breath, YPJ had a big role in fighting trenches and fighting mercenaries. "

We renew our pledge

In turn, the fighter Najbir Kobani pointed to the resistance of the women and mothers of the neighborhood, saying: "Mothers of the Sheikh Maqsoud, all of them are our mothers, did not leave us at the hard times in every possible way, the young women stood beside us and participated in the protection of the neighborhood and the elderly who were preparing food for us, so no matter how many sacrifices we made."

On behalf of the YPJ fighters, Najbir renewed the pledge by protecting the residents of the neighborhood and protecting every woman in the neighborhood, saying " we are fully ready to sacrifice every precious thing for our people with various components and we will be in every place where injustice has been found."
