'Threats are in interest of IS, we will not hesitate to defend our land'

In an exclusive statement to ANHA, the commander in the ranks of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Zanar Awaz, said, "While we are fighting the most vicious terrorist organization in the world, we see that the Turkish threats by its leader Erdogan against the northern and eastern regions of Syria again impede the eradication of a pandemic operation that threatens all humanity."

The battles in the axes of "Hajin, al-Baguz, al-Shefa and al-Soussa", which constitute the last episode of IS mercenaries' presence in northern and eastern Syria, entered its 4th month in the framework of the battle to defeat terrorism under the leadership of SDF backed by International Coalition.

At a time when IS mercenaries are approching to the end, the Turkish President Recep Teyyip Erdogan threatened a few days ago to invade northern and eastern Syria, where the Syrian Democratic Forces considered these threats to obstrucle their efforts to combat terrorism. Many previous documents and testimonies of IS commanders approved the Turkish support for them publicly.

Awaz who is leading the recent campaign against IS says that they as the Syrian Democratic Forces are ready for any attack on their land, "We will confront enemies. We have not fought Turkey and posed no threat to its territory, but if we felt that any risk threatens our areas, we will not hesitate to defend them."

He said at the end of his speech that the Turkish threats aim to frustrate our morale, but we continue our operations to defeat IS terrorism."
