Arab League condemns Turkish aggression on Şengal

The spokesman for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mahmoud Afifi, considered the successive Turkish attacks over the past days on sites in northern Iraq (South Kurdistan) a violation to the sovereignty of the Iraqi state.

The Iraqi government summoned the Turkish ambassador after Turkish air strikes on populated areas in Şengal, but Turkey continued its aggression in defiance of Iraq.

Afifi added that this is a denounced violation because it violates the rules of international law and contradicts the good neighbor principles.

On Tuesday, the funeral ceremony for three civilians, who lost their lives in the result of the targeting of the Turkish aircrafts while they were working on digging wells for Şengal area, was held at the Martyr Dejla Shrine near Kobanî city.

Afifi said that the Arab summit has issued several resolutions condemning the violation of the Iraqi sovereignty in this way, pointing out that Turkey's repeated disregard for the Arab position reflects a kind of indifference to its relations with the Arab countries on a sound basis based on respecting the sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of the state.
