Hunger strike in Amouda concluded

Under the motto "To Break the Isolation, in Order to Live Free with Leader Ocalan," Kongra Star, in coordination with the Democratic Unionist Party(PYD), organized hunger strike yesterday at Houri Center for Culture and Art in Amouda, in solidarity with parliamentarian Leyla Guven to lift the isolation posed on the leader Ocalan .

Hundreds of people and members of civil society organizations participated in the hunger strike.

The hunger strike in the second day ended with a statement issued by the strikers, read by the co-chair of the Amouda District Council, Selwa Suleiman.

The statement first referred to the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, and pointed out that the isolation imposed on Ocalan stems primarily from the policy of genocide and denial of the Turkish tyranny and issues of democracy and security throughout the region.

The statement noted "We in Kongra Star and the Democratic Union Party call upon the people of Syria in all its ethnic, national and religious components to stand united against the practices of the Turkish occupation and to defeat it."

The statement called on the various democratic forces in the region and the world to peacefully and democratically fight for the dismantling of the isolation and the release of the leader Ocalan.

It is noteworthy that Kongra Star and PYD have organized a series of hunger strikes in a number of cities in Qamishlo, in which hundreds of people participated.
