Hunger strikers call for struggle to end isolation on Ocalan

The activity of the hunger strike started in Çilaxa district in Dêrik area of Qamishlo canton on Friday with the participation of 70 people. It was organized by each of Kongra Star and the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in solidarity with the co-chair of the Democratic Society Conference and the Parliamentarian in the Democratic Peoples Party in Colêmerg city in Bakur Kurdistan (North Kurdistan) Leyla Guven who has been on a hunger strike in Amed prison since November 7 and to denounce the isolation imposed on the Kurdish people leader Abdullah Ocalan.

During the first and second day, delegations from Dêrik, Girkê Legê and Tel Koçer districts flocked to participate in the hunger strike campaign. 

The activity of the hunger strike ended with releasing a statement by the hunger strikers, calling for the work and struggle to break the isolation and release the leader Ocalan.

The statement was read by the member of the Democratic Union Party's Organizational Office Seror Shetti, and it included,

"Various categories of people have been on hunger strike in solidarity with Leyla Guven whose hunger strike has exceeded a month and is still ongoing to denounce the isolation imposed on the peoples leader Abdullah Ocalan.

We, in Kongra Star and PYD, call for the Syrian people with all components to stand in solidarity with each other against the practices of the Turkish occupation and defeat it in all the areas it had occupied. We also call for the people to strengthen the joint work to support the gains achieved in North-East Syria through the Democratic Autonomous Administration's sample that is considered an application of the democratic nation's theory put forward by the leader Ocalan, and that the isolation imposed on him could not be described to be against the Kurdish people only, but against all the peoples of the area.

We call for all the democratic forces in the area and the world to the democratic peace struggle to remove the isolation and release Ocalan. We also assure that the activity of the hunger strike is a massage directed to the International Human Rights Organizations, the International Amnesty, United Nations, European Union and other organizations to reject the destructive policies practiced by the Turkish fascism and to put pressure on it to make radical amendments on Ocalan's case."

In conclusion, the people chanted the slogans that condemn the isolation imposed on Ocalan.
