Elham Ahmed: All efforts of foreign countries failed in drafting new code for Syria

In an interview conducted by ANHA news agency with the co-chair of the Executive Body of the Democratic Syrian Council(MSD), Elham Ahmed said that the subject of the Syrian constitution is an important subject for the future of Syria, while all meetings in Geneva and Astana to find a suitable formula for the Syrian constitution.

Ahmed pointed out that the reason for the failure of all meetings that took place outside the Syrian territory is the absence of the actual representatives of the Syrian people, and pointed out that those who participated in those meetings was working under the policies of foreign and regional countries, "acting according to their interests within the Syrian territory, the absent of the voice of the Syrian and the opinion of the Syrian people within those meetings led to their failure."

In her speech, she spoke about the latest attempts by the guarantor countries (Turkey, Russia, Iran) during the Astana meeting to draft a new constitution for Syria and said,

 "The latest attempt by Astana, who was supposed to form a committee to draft a new constitution for Syria, was not successful, so here we can say that no one can find a solution to Syria. Only those within Syria can put an appropriate solution to the Syrian crisis."

Ahmed pointed out that the stage requires the restructuring of a new constitution preparation committee composed of all factions and representatives of the Syrian people. "Change is a condition that the previous delegations could not resolve, but on the contrary, they complicated the subject more and more."

Elham Ahmed noted that they, as the Syrian Democratic Council, worked for the Syrian Constitution with determination and conveyed their ideas to the countries that are interested in the Syrian issue.

She said "We have been working for a year on the draft of a new constitution for Syria and we have prepared the infrastructure for it."

During the Syrian-Syrian dialogue held in Ain Issa town, it was agreed that the next meeting of the Syrian constitution would be devoted to the participation of all opposition parties and political blocs."

The co-chair of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council, Elham Ahmed, at the end of her speech said that they are holding extensive meetings of specialists, experts and rights to discuss the Syrian constitution."

 MSD will focus in particular on the subject of the Syrian constitution and take the views of the Syrian people to make the necessary amendments to the draft new constitution for Syria, which is prepared by the Syrian Democratic Council."
