French strategist: What Turkey is doing in Afrin is illegal

The French international strategist and the researcher of international conflict analysis Gerard Shalian criticized the international silence about the violations committed by the Turkish occupation state and said, "Whatever the reasons and objectives were, what Turkey did in Afrin is illegal."

The International Forum on Ethnic Cleansing and Demographic Change in Afrin was launched on Sunday under the auspices of Rojava Cente for Studies. The Forum was attended by many political figures and academician from around the world. In this regard, ANHA agency met with the French strategist and international conflict analysis specialist Gerard Shalian who pointed out that the Turkish state targets the Kurdish people in particular.

Gerard said, "During the Turkish attacks on Afrin, we saw systematic silence internationally. All countries remained silent on these attacks although the Turkish state was targeting the civilians and the evidence is clear, and we saw that with our own eyes."

Girard explained that whatever the reasons and objectives of the Turkish state were, what happened in Afrin is a violation of human rights and is considered a crime and illegal act and added, "The Turkish state targets especially the forces fighting the jihadist in the area which defeated terrorism from al-Raqqa and other areas."

Gerard pointed out that all countries of the world must move to put an end to these violations and cooperate for the withdrawal of the Turkish army from Afrin.
