Kurdish Red Crescent begins a campaign to treat leishmaniasis in al-Shahba

A number of villages and towns in al-Shahba areas were almost deserted in recent years due to the battles that took place after the Afrin residents were forcibly removed from their land due to the Turkish occupation army's attacks and its mercenaries. Some diseases emerged from the remnants of war and destruction.

On this basis, in an attempt to treat the disease, the Kurdish Red Crescent began a campaign of treatment for people infected with the disease, according to a weekly program in four medical centers belonging to the Kurdish Red Crescent in al-Shahba areas.

In this context, ANHA has met with  member of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Havin Hanan said "Some people have suffered from leishmaniasis, due to the remnants of war in these areas where there has been a lot of battels in recent years."

"We have done our duty to provide treatment for people with the disease," she said. "

Hevin said "After we secured the medicines, we organized a treatment program in the general areas of al-Shahba. We identified four medical points where patients from different villages and camps in the area were treated. Such as Berxwedan camp,Serdam camp, Ahras district , Tel –Rifat district , Treatment is offered twice a week starting from 8 am to 2 pm by nurses at each domin. "
