Regime forces control Telol-al-Safa, south of Suweida

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the Syrian regime forces controlled on Saturday the area of Telol al-Safa, where IS mercenaries were stationed in the last pocket located at the administrative border between the southern governorates of Suweida and the countryside of Damascus.

For nearly four months, the area has been being exposed to raids that have intensified in recent weeks as the regime has mobilized military reinforcements in its surroundings to launch attacks against IS mercenaries.

Abdel Rahman estimated the number of mercenaries who were existed in area between 700 and 1,000 IS mercenaries, likely to be withdrawn as a result of an agreement held with the forces of the regime which has besieged them for weeks and targeted their positions with heavy raids."

According to the official Syrian news agency SANA, the army's units have made significant progress in Telol al-Safa after controlling the highest hills in the region.

The regime's control of the final pocket comes days after the release of IS mercenaries calling for the release of 17 women and children abducted during bloodiest attacks launched on the predominantly Druze province of Suweida in July 25.

30 persons have been kidnapped, two of whom were executed while an elderly woman died during their abduction. Six hostages were released last month and three others were killed before the liberation of those who remained on the eighth of this month.
