"Keeping my profession is steadfast in itself"

The mother Alifa Mustafa from Medan Akbes village of Rajo district in Afrin canton has been working in wool weaving since the age of 10 to secure the income of her family.

She learned from her neighbor at the age of 10

The mother has been self-reliant since she was ten years old, where she learned the profession from her neighbors. She began the profession and still working until now, and said in this regard, "I have begun the profession of weaving wool by hand and making woolen clothes since the age of 10 years because I had a desire to learn this profession and after Years of practicing the profession and selling the clothes that I was making with my hand to my relatives and neighbors, I managed to buy a house in Aleppo.

She moved her career with herself in two migrations

With the beginning of the Syrian crisis, she fled Aleppo city to the village of her husband of Belbelê district, and continued to manufacture clothes for children, adults and her family as well. As she used to do in Aleppo, she did there and has provided income for her family over seven years.

After she was forcibly exiled from her land due to the attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on Afrin and its people, she went to the areas of al-Shahba to live in Tel Qerah village in al-Ahdath district. She began to practice her profession, but in a different way as she gathers the remaining woolen clothes under the rubble and re-make them.

Where the mother indicated that she sells the woolen pieces for a small amount of money according to its size and shape, and that the villagers come to her so that the mother can make clothes for them according to their request.

 She would continue till returning to her land

The mother Alifa Mustafa said that she wants to stay in the areas of al-Shahba to highlight the spirit of resistance among the people of Afrin under all the circumstances that they passed through.

She added, "Keeping my profession throughout these years is resistance because the enemy is trying to break our will, but we are resisting and we will continue to resist."
