Esmat Sheikh Hassen: Occupation's attacks on Kobanî aim at obstructing defeat of terrorism, we to repel them

"The Turkish attacks target the security and stability of our city and the unarmed civilians amid international silence over these violations," said the co-chair of the Defense and Self-Protection Authority in Kobanî Sheikh Hassen to Hawar news agency.

Several villages west of Kobanî city were exposed on October 28 to the Turkish bombardment that targeted the civilians and military personnel who protect the area and the bombardment resulted in martyring a fighter of Self-Protection Forces.

"Through these attacks on Kobanî, Erdogan is trying to divert attention from the victories of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against IS mercenaries and to obstruct the battle to defeat terrorism which is the last stage of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign, the last bastion of IS mercenaries in northern and eastern Syria," said Esmat Sheikh Hassen, the co-chair of the Defense and Self-Protection Body in Kobanî canton.

Esmat Sheikh Hassen described the attacks to be targeting the people of the Middle East and not only northern Syria, referring to the resistance shown by Kobanî and the area for the Middle East and the world. He added, "Erdogan targets with his attacks the International Day of Solidarity with Kobanî resistance on November 1, the day on which the entire world supported Kobanî resistance and the People and Women Protection Units (YPG, YPJ)."

Sheikh Hassen linked the Turkish attacks and the Quartet summit held on October 27 in Istanbul with a green light. "America, France and Russia must show a position on the attacks on the city of Kobanî. We live in this region safely and peacefully," he said. On the other hand, the other regions are witnessing conflicts and wars, and here, we are fighting for democracy, defeating terrorism and taking the fraternity of peoples as our basis."

Hassen directed a massage to the world countries, "As you supported Kobanî resistance, you must stand against the attacks of the Turkish state and be the parents for the city that saved you from the biggest terrorist organization in the world."

"These attacks target the 1st of November, and the Kurdish people must be vigilant against these policies that have been plotted against them from ancient times until today, especially in Bakur Kurdistan, as well as the peoples of the area; Arabs, Turkmen and Armenians, not to be fooled by the lies that are being waged against them."

At the end of his speech, Hassen pledged that YPG, YPJ and the Self-Defense would resist the Turkish occupation and confront it.
