Distributing seeds started in al-Hasakah

Due to the great loss that the farmers were exposed to in al-Hasakah canton because of the lack of rainfall during the previous season and its coming late in large quantities which in turn rot and did harm to the crop.

To help the farmers, discussions are held within the Agriculture Committee of al-Hasakah to compensate the farmers if the same problem is repeated this year.

The member of the Agriculture Committee in al-Hasakah Firas Mohammed confirmed that they provided the best seeds to the farmers to ensure a good season during this year.

Mohammed noted, "About the seeds’ quality, they are of good quality. We, as the Agricultural Committee, have specialists in terms of sterilization of seeds and storage of seeds, and we also have seed samples that are given to the farmers before they buy them."

He pointed out that they began to distribute seeds to the farmers according to the licenses issued by the Democratic Autonomous Administration in al-Jazeera region, where each farmer is given a specific amount of seeds according to the area of land owned by each farmer. Moreover, 25 Kg of seeds and fertilizer were allocated for each dunum.

Mohamed pointed out that the price of one ton of wheat is 160,000 S.P, while the price of a ton of cold fertilizer is 200,000 S.P and warm fertilizer is 200,000 S.P per ton.

Mohammed noted, "The farmers have suffered from a great damage in the past year and to help them, there are now discussions within the committee about helping them. If we face the same problem as last year, we will compensate the farmers for some aid which includes specific quantities of seeds or lending them money as an assistance to compensate for their losses."

The member of the Agriculture Committee in al-Hasakah advised the farmers and called for them to follow the agricultural course because the agricultural course will be useful to the farmers and lands at the same time.
