Kobanî resistance stories in Modern Faces Exhibition

Under the supervision of the artist Mohammed Shaheen, a collective exhibition of formative art entitled "Modern Faces" opened on Saturday in Kobanî with the participation of 12 plastic artists who are students of the artist Mohammed Shaheen.

The exhibition held at Kobanî Museum, north of the city which would last for two days includes 39 paintings about Kobanî resistance’s stories.

The exhibition was opened on Saturday in the presence of a number of Kobanî residents and representatives of social and political activities. At the opening ceremony, the co-chair of Kobanî Canton Council Ahmed Sheikho delivered a speech, in which he thanked the artist Mohammed Shaheen, the exhibition's supervisor.

Sheikho said, “Every domain of art has its important role in Kurdistan Revolution, and today's exhibition is a shining example of this, and it will be an example for the future generations.”

The artist Mohammed Shaheen confirmed that the aim of holding the exhibition at Kobanî Museum is to revive the museum, “We try to show through our paintings the resistance shown in the area where the museum was built. At every portrait, there is a story.”

It is worth mentioning that Kobanî district’s administration built a museum in the north of the city, in the neighborhoods that were destroyed by the resistance demonstrated by Kobanî people and YPG, YPJ fighters against IS mercenaries during Kobanî resistance in 2014.
