“Journalists' arrest is new proof of Turkish political bankruptcy"

Avin Yousef pointed out that the practices and the repression policy adopted by the Justice and Development Government against the media journalists are a proof of the political bankruptcy of the Turkish state politically. It aims by the muting of the mouths of journalists and their arrest to the media blackout in the country so as not to expose the internal crisis experienced by Turkey and the economic crisis which occurred after the collapse of the Turkish lira.

Erdogan's (AKP) continues its arbitrary practices against the Kurdish people in Bakur Kurdistan as Turkish police raided the homes of dozens of journalists and politicians in Amed and arrested more than 100 people.

Among the detainees were journalists Abdul Rahman Kok, Kabria Afern, Samiha Alankul and the co-chair of the Democratic Peoples' Party in Amed Mohammad Sharif Jamji.

In this regard, ANHA agency met with the co-chair of the Free Media Union, Avin Yousef, who pointed out that the Turkish occupation state has been practicing a policy of repression against its people in general and against the Kurds in particular since the attempted coup in 2016 to apply the emergency law, through which it crushed the freedoms and the increase in arbitrary and dictatorial practices that have resulted in the arrest of thousands of politicians and journalists in particular.

"The arrest of female journalists and their imprisonment in prisons and the violence against them are very disturbing. The Turkish authorities have arrested more than 100 people, including journalist Kebria Afern and Samiha Alankul, and many others. These practices and the repression policy of AKP against the journalists is a proof of the political bankruptcy of the Turkish state, as it aims to mute the mouths of journalists and arrest them to the media blackout in the country so as not to expose the internal crisis experienced by Turkey and the economic crisis that hit Turkey after the collapse of the Turkish lira.

Avin expressed her disapproval of the arrest of female journalists and described it as immoral, "The arrest, murder and rape of female journalists around the world, the international community and international human rights organizations are silent," Avin said. "Are they afraid to tell the truth?"

At the end of her speech, Avin said: "We, as media journalists in Rojava and North Syria, condemn the silence of the international community and human rights organizations. We call on them to shoulder their responsibilities towards these practices, and intervene directly to stop these violations against female journalists.
