Pompeo to Pyongyang to reach agreement on nuclear disarmament

The United States is seeking to reach touchable results on North Korea's nuclear disarmament, so its Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo is heading to Pyongyang on Sunday.

During his fourth visit to North Korea, Pompeo, who will meet with Kim Jong-un, was asked to prepare for a new summit between the US president and the North Korean leader after their first summit in Singapore in June.

Pompeo said, "I am confident that we will come back with a better understanding, a more important progress and a plan to move forward not only towards the summit between our leaders but also to continue our efforts aimed at building the road in the direction of Asia."

North Korean authorities have warned through the official news agency that "the end of the war" cannot be "a bargaining element for nuclear disarmament." Pyongyang appears to be exerting pressure to ease international sanctions strangling its economy, while the Trump administration insists sanctions will remain in place until the end of the nuclear disarmament process.
