Syrian Women Council’s meeting concluded with ratifying on a number of resolutions

During its second meeting, the Syrian Women Council made important decisions about the Syrian women, and coordinators were appointed for some areas of the Syrian north.

The Executive Body of the Syrian Women Council held its second periodic meeting on Thursday in the meeting room of the Syrian Democratic Council’s center in Ain Issa district of Tel Abyad / Girê Spî canton.

The meeting was attended by dozens of women from different cities and governorates of Syria; Damascus, Lattakia, Tartous, Banias, Qalamoun, al-Raqqa, al-Taba, Manbaj and Idlib with the presence of the general commander and the spokeswoman on behalf of the Syrian Women lina Berekat and the presidency’s deputy of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council Nujin Yousef.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence. The coordinator and spokesperson on behalf of the Syrian Woman Lina Berekat welcomed the present women. Then, the annual reports of the women's representatives were presented and evaluated. During the discussions, the necessity of activating women's role more in Syria was confirmed.

Lina Berekat then explained the political situation in Syria, and the women began to discuss the situation in the areas where they live in.

The meeting resulted in a number of resolutions that were ratified on by the attendees, including:

Qualifying and training the female comrades in the Syrian Women Council to qualify the cadres in order to activate them more.

Establishing a special office for research studies related to women.

Forming sub-committees, organizational principles and external and internal diplomatic relations.

Paying more attention to the media depiction.

Activating the Relations Committee towards Syria and the Middle East.

Holding meetings for the Executive Body periodically.

Launching a campaign at the level of Syria to combat violence against women.

Preparing a Syrian women's dialogue forum at the level of Syria for the participation of women in solving the Syrian crisis.

In the end, each of Haifa Mahmoud, Elham Matli and Walaa al-Naji were elected as coordinators for the eastern area of al-Tabqa, al-Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.

It is worth mentioning that the Syrian Women Council held its first meeting on October, 2017.
