On 27 August 2018, the 3rd Conference of the Democratic Society Movement was held. The conference adopted a number of resolutions, including the Movement's determination to transform the structure of the Democratic Society Movement into a framework of the civil society organizations, which kept the political parties that were working as a political committee under the umbrella of the movement outside its framework.

The parties, which operated under the umbrella of the Democratic Society Movement as a political committee of the Movement (the Democratic Union Party, Kurdistan Liberal Union, Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party, Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Kurdistan and Syria), held a series of meetings aimed at reaching a mechanism for joint action.

In connection with these meetings, ANHA agency conducted a meeting with the co-chair of the Democratic Unionist Party (PYD) Shahuz Hasan, who stressed that the parties agreed during the meetings that political action should be pursued jointly.

Shahouz said that they also agreed to communicate with the Kurdish political parties which are working within the framework of Democratic Autonomous Administration, with the aim of uniting the visions of the Kurdish parties in Rojava, and that the Democratic Union Party took this initiative.

Shahouz Hasan said that they had held meetings with all parties and Kurdish political blocs operating within the Democratic Autonomous Administrations in Rojava, and explained that all parties had welcomed the initiative.

"All the parties have indicated that they need such an initiative, and need to discuss to unite their views on the events and developments that are taking place in the area, Syria and Kurdistan, and come out with joint decisions and opinions," Hasan added.

On the parties that are outside the Democratic Autonomous Administration,  Hasan pointed out that their number is small like the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria and the Kurdish National Council Parties, and said that their doors are open to all except the Kurdish National Council parties, which is basically against the project, he added "They can join the initiative, but after a clear situation about the Turkish occupation army to Afrin and the violations against the people of Afrin, because members of the parties of Kurdish National Council in Syria have stated several times through the media that they participate in the attack on Afrin and this was denounced by the people and the parties of the area. "

Shahouz Hasan explained that their goal of meeting with the Kurdish parties was to form a common Kurdish political framework. He pointed out that all the Kurdish parties in Rojava, except the Kurdish National Council’s parties, had previously signed a joint initiative (roadmap), and he said, "We can benefit from this map and consider it as a cornerstone of communication between us."

At the end of his speech, he said "There may be different views among some political parties, but the public interest requires unity and cohesion,"
