After 8 years... Mohesin School reopened to receive students

The Education Committee of the Democratic Society in Girê Spî canton has reopened Mohesin School, which was taken over by mercenary gangs, so the student were deprived of completing their education for eight years in a row, after renovations and repairs.

Mohesin village is located 15 kilometers east of Suluk district in Girê Spî canton. The village has three schools for the three primary, preparatory and secondary stages.

During the control of the mercenary gangs initially from the so-called "Free Army" and " al-Nusra", then ISIS  mercenaries, the schools were turned into military training headquarters, weapons depots, torture prisons, so the students deprived of education.

After the People and Women's Protection Units liberated Girê Spî and Suluk district, nearly 3 years since then, the Education Committee initiated the opening of the primary school in the village after some restorations to enable the students to complete their studies.

The school opened its doors to the students, attended by 40 students, and received their education for the first time in eight years.

The teacher Rakan Mamdouh said to ANHA agency "Armed gangs have deprived 400 students of education for 8 years, and now students has grown and they are not proficient in writing and reading at this age."

However, Mamdouh expressed his gratitude to the Education Committee for opening the school. He said that a good number of students intended school and their morale is high to practice education.

Mamdouh called on the Education Committee to remove the anarchic slogans drawn by the mercenary gangs during their control of the region.

For his part, student Ismail Mohammed expressed his joy to return to school seats which he has been deprived of for years.

"The schools in the village of Mohesin were completely damaged during the control of the armed gangs of the village where they were strongholds. The schools were turned into political and military training rooms, warehouses and detention centers," Ibrahim Ebo, the Schools Committee administrator said.
