After years of halting cotton gin, preparation to receive “white gold”

The cotton gin in al-Hasakah is ready to receive cotton this year after nearly a year of preparations by bringing modern machinery and maintenance of damaged equipment at a record cost of nearly $ 1 million.

One year of preparations

"We started work on the gin on August 1, 2017, in coordination with the contractors who have experience in this field, at the beginning of this year we started to actually equip, where we can say that the gin is technically fully ready. " said Raman Abdul Ghafour, an administrator at the cotton gin.

The gin administration of the Economic Body in al-Hasakah canton in al-Jazeera region has launched a new cotton gin machines to rise to the best quality in Syria and the world, by bringing modern electronic machines and supervised by specialists with expertise in this field.

The test was successful

In May, the administration has begun an initial testing of the machines with 30 tons of cotton to test the readiness of the machines in the gin of "white gold".

Abdul Ghafour stressed that "the experimental process of extracting cotton with good quality was successful, according to specialists who examined samples of the cotton."

The administrator notes that they are currently in the process of finalizing the finishing of the gin, "where maintenance of some equipment and the cleaning of lounges that are close to completion."

According to Raman, the current capacity of the workshop is 50 thousand tons. The total capacity of al-Hasakah gin is estimated at 82,000 tons.

It is scheduled that the cotton gin has begun receiving the "white gold" harvest from farmers by the beginning of October.

In preparation for farmers to receive the cotton gin in the north and north-east of Syria, this year's cotton crop faces serious threats of extinction under the invasion of insect pests, resulting in considerable damage, despite the farmers' use of pesticides, but did not work. .

It is worth mentioning that the forces of the regime bombed the cotton and yarn launcher in al-Hasakah city in March 2014, causing enormous material damage to the gin.
