Important points in text of TEV-DEM’s co-chair in 3rd conference

The third regular conference of TEV-DEM is being held in Ramylan town in Qamishlo canton, with the vast  participation of representatives of the civic councils of Syria Democratic Council, political parties, political and social organizations in Rojava and North Syria .In addition to the two co-chairs of the Executive Body of (TEV-DEM).

The Co-chair of TEV-DEM  delivered a lengthy speech that included the vision of the movement on all global and regional issues and the Syrian crisis in particular. The speech was read in Arabic by the Co-chair of the Executive Body of  TEV-DEM  Aldar Khalil.

The Co-chair’s speech commemorated at the beginning the martyrs of the democratic revolution and co-existence and freedom of the people, especially Afrin resistance's martyrs.

The text of the speech also states:

"Since the convening of our second conference on 16 December 2011 until today, there have been significant developments at the level of global and regional policies, including Kurdistan and Syria. Our movement has been a great response to the changes that have taken place and are affecting them. Today, we reach the conclusion that the line we have committed to since the beginning of the developments in the region and especially on the Syrian arena has proved this line of success at all levels.

The distinction created through this line depends mainly on the legacy of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and the philosophy of the leader of the Kurdish people leader Apo in the philosophy of the democratic nation. "We have struggled and are still aiming to represent the aspirations of our people in terms of their social structures, cultures and beliefs. Today we are a major player that sets the balance of the region and Kurdistan, Syria and the region."

The Co-chair described the stage of the conference with historical moments and stressed the vision of the movement to establish "democratic decentralization in the form of federalism in the form of Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) and the requirements of continuous development aimed at moving to the democratic nation and making it a communal path towards co-existence and representation of the fraternity of peoples and the unity of their destiny."

The Co-chair of the Executive Body of TEV-DEM  referred to what they called "an ideological evaluation of four issues:

1. The Middle East is not about warring nations, but about cultures, from which the democratic civilization emerged, and the issues of achieving the freedom of peoples do not pass through the experience that failed at least in the Middle East

2. The experience of the centralized nation-state. The Middle East is not in conflict with religions and sects; every war on its religious basis is not ours, our approach is not in agreement with those who believe that the production of ideas on the basis of religion is a meaningful social or ideological activity. Our experience tells us that we are keen to preserve all beliefs, that religions are useful in their spiritual aspect and in themselves are an aspect of the power of society other than politicization, misinformation and misrepresentation.

3 - We seek to struggle till women take their natural place in the leadership of change and democratic transformation; socialization cannot be the basis of community when women are not the commander and the free rebel.

- The fourth issue is that we seek to take our complementary roles in contributing to the consolidation of the foundations of democratic civilization. We reject scientism in order to achieve the scientific truth through which societies develop and consolidate. We believe in radical democracy. We also believe that these principles and foundations alone can create a viable alternative to capitalist modernity that dominates humanity through the monopolies of power and financial capital and does not hesitate to flame wars all over the world in order to sustain and strengthen its hegemony. "

The speech of  Co-chair included details analysis of the situation in the Mideast, and included with regard to the Syrian regime: "As for the Syrian regime, due to authoritarian nature, it did not give the opportunity for the growth of healthy opposition but strengthened and cemented pillars and organs of intelligence so that there has been an army in secret along with declared his army. When the spring of the peoples began, the regime was aware that it was on the list that people would rebel against. On the other hand, there was no organized opposition capable of leading the masses and the popular movement, and was limited to exiles and remnants of secret political parties. Therefore, external interventions in various ways and methods began, and each party used parties and created organizations that implement their plans and follow orders. Syria has thus become a quagmire of internal, regional and international crises and conflicts. "

The Democratic Society Movement has stressed support by all means that the Syrian Democratic Council becomes a platform that includes the largest spectrum of the Syrian opposition. Without our presence in the so-called formation of the Constitution Committee, it is also doomed to failure as a result of 8 Geneva and 10 Astana rounds. The common ground between these meetings that TEV-DEM and the Syrian democratic forces were not present or excluded in order to further crisis and the divide Syria and the region."

The Co-chair of the TEV DEM’s Executive Body also has addressed the situation of the Kurdish people in Rojava regions. "The Kurdish people in Rojava, through the vision adopted by TEV – DEM, was able to become an effective and influential force in the Syrian equation and thus in the balances of power in the region through the presence of its defensive forces on the ground and its alliances with the actors, and through its projects of the Syrian solution and its application on the ground and acceptance by the forces that represent the various Syrian components of Arabs, Syriacs and Turkmens and all ethnic and ideological affiliations. There is no doubt that all this came as a result of the project of Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA), which we started after our second conference with regard to organizing the ranks of the people from all aspects, including the means of Self-Defense, and the victories achieved on the ground prepared the atmosphere to consolidate the system of Democratic Autonomous Administration.

In its speech, the Co-chair said that the movement's relations "are good at home with all the Kurdish and Syrian political parties that believe in the political solution and the revolutionary legitimacy of Autonomous Administration . We have continued with all segments of society with all the non-Kurdish components in the liberated areas on the basis of co-existence. With our masses at the widest range, especially among our people who have been forced to resort to Europe and other countries as a result of the displacement policies practiced by the opponents of the Kurdish people. "

The transition to a community organization that protects rights, freedoms, blocks the road to authoritarianism

The speech of  Co-chair of TEV-DEM included a reference to the movement's efforts to move to a new stage in the struggle for rights. In order to do so, the movement set out to insist on starting its previous tasks by transforming itself into a community organization that protects rights and freedoms. What has been done over the past years has been a real building of the will of society, a will that can be a way towards the adoption of the decision of a free society

Our movement was a bridge through which a strong building was built for a democratic project. The outcome of the work and the ability of our people to manage itself have been clarified since the beginning of the organization and establishment of the  Autonomous Administration project. While we were consolidating and developing the gains achieved and pushing them to move more and penetrate deeper into the spaces of democracy with their national, regional and global dimensions.

In particular, TEVDEM has laid the foundations for building a political and social system of Democratic Autonomous Administration DAA that has been able to operate on many levels. It has built institutions and departments to organize political, social, legal, economic and security life in Rojava and northern Syria.

Moreover, democratic currents and other national organizations for the entire Syrian people to consolidate the democratic front and move to a democratic, decentralized political system. Today, when Democratic Autonomous Administration has reached to organizational levels, democratic elections have been held with the participation of political and societal parties and movements in Rojava and North Syria.

The TEV-DEM believes that the trend towards supporting and building the organizations of the third field as an independent field is essential, because no political system can maintain its democratic path without organizing and controlling society through which to correct the course and rectify mistakes.

The Co-chair of TEV-DEM concluded saying:

We are the co-chair of the Executive Body of the TEV_DEM, we hope that we have met the requirements of the stage to keep up with the sacrifices of our people, we also pledge our martyrs to proceed our struggle by all means wherever we are. These principles, which we believe in and have fought for in the past years, are deep-rooted within us and they are the ones will guide our struggle. We are confident that our conference will make important decisions commensurate with the historical struggle of our Kurdish people and the components of Syria. Let us go hand-in-hand to resolve the Kurdish issue with a just democratic solution and establish Syria according to the model of democratic autonomous administration and to consolidate the principles and philosophy of the democratic nation."
