Washington wants blacklisting Russian companies, ships

The request which was sent Wednesday to a UN sanctions committee, is the third demand for the United States in two months to increase pressure on North Korea to dismantle its nuclear and missile program.

In its latest request, the United States demanded a freeze on the assets of the Russian shipping companies (Bermory Maritime and Logistics) and (Gorzun Shebing which they accuse of dealing with North Korea and blacklisting them.

US officials say the two companies own the oil tanker M / V Patriot, which twice moved its oil tanker to two North Korean tankers this year.

The US Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed sanctions on the Russian companies and the six ships.

Russian ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nibenzia told AFP that the US sanctions were "illegal" and the evidence provided by Washington "is not convincing." he said "certainly we will object."

Diplomats said that the sanctions committee is expected to consider the US request by August 29.

On August 10, Russia and China blocked a US request to add a Russian bank, one person and two North Korean entities to the UN blacklist.
