In genocide's anniversary ... Şengal General Council formed

The youths of the Yazidi Youth Union began on Thursday evening a torch-march from the mountains of Şengal and continued it on Friday with the joining of crowds of people to it, as the march began from Amûda area in Şengal and headed towards Serdeştê camp.

These events coincide with the fourth anniversary of IS mercenaries genocide against the Yazidi people in Şengal on August 3, 2014 which ended the lives of thousands of women, children and the elderly, in addition to kidnapping other thousands.

The administrators of the Yazidi Democracy and Freedom Party, the Yazidi Women Freedom Movement, Şengal management’s Constituent Council, Serdeştê camp’s refugees, the parliamentarian of the Democratic Peoples’ Party in Îlê Feleknas Ûce, the official of the Syriac Beth Nahrin Party Yusuf Jacob and Syriac, Assyrian and Chaldean delegations that came from North Syria.       

The people walked behind banners with the slogan, "We Would Not Forget the Decree" written on as the women and children have been released from the grip of IS and those whose relatives are still at the hands of IS mercenaries marched on the front of the march which was protected by the YBŞ-YJŞ units.

As the crowds of people arrived at the building of Şengal Democratic Autonomous Administration, a minute of silence was held in commemoration of the victims of August 3, 2014 massacre, and then, the representative of the Yazidi Democracy and Freedom Party welcomed the people and confirmed in a speech that the Yazidi people have become now a free society.

While the HDP's parliamentarian Feleknas Ûca said that Şangal's people are not alone, but the Yazidi people stand with them in all parts of Kurdistan. She added, "We will never forget the practices of IS mercenaries."

For his part, the official of Syriac Beth Nahrin Party Yusuf Jacob said that the massacre committed in Şengal is not strange for him, pointing out that the Syriac people have been being subjected to massacres since thousands of years.

After the end of the speeches, the formation of Şengal Administration’s General Council was announced. The council included representatives of the Yazidis, Syrians, Assyrians, Chaldeans and Arabs of Shiite sect that are living in the area.

This is an additional step taken by the people of Şengal area which have been recently recovered from the pain of the massacre. This step is part of the efforts of the people to manage their own affairs without relying on anyone politically or militarily.
