Hilwa Municipality; cooperative services with communes, future projects

The People's Municipality in Hilwa town has managed to rehabilitate some roads, of the town and its villages, extend water networks to four villages, and rehabilitate and extend sewage networks for 5 villages, in cooperation and coordination with the communities and councils.

The People's Municipality in Hilwa town in Tirbespiyê district area in North Syria began its work after the last elections of the democratic federation of North Syria in late 2017. After the formation of its committees, it began to work to meet the requirements of its villages according to the available resources.

The first steps taken by the municipality are to restore the road between the villages of Beyandor and Til Şeîr northwest of Tirbespiyê district, which is 320 meters long and 6 meters wide. And rehabilitated and cleaned sewage drains of Hilwa, Hasoud, Rotan, Beyandor and Bowayra villages, and the problem of water was solved in Hilwa, Zorava and Nasran villages.

The municipality's services did not stop here, but the water networks have been provided to 4 villages which were suffering from continuous water shortages: the villages of Hilwa al-Sheikh, Nesran, Biwêrê and, Zorava as well as spraying insecticides in the 22 villages.

The budget allocated to Hilwa Municipality is limited. Therefore, the municipal administration coordinates and cooperates with communes and councils’ administration in the district to carry out their tasks; the Co-chair of Hilwa Municipality, Montaha Ghazi Haji explained that the municipality is doing its utmost to serve the people. She pointed out that the people's municipality periodically cleaning two villages to prevent the accumulation of garbage in the villages of the town.

She explained that the municipality's Women Office planted trees in the Martyr Jihan’s park in Til Şeîr village and provided an electricity generator so that residents can take a walk in the park during the evening hours, in addition, support will provided to the all-female Gelewêj bakery.

On the future projects, she pointed out that they are in the process of cleaning the town's creeks, which are 5 of the garbage and dirt, and coordination with the queens in order to establish future projects according to the studies presented to them.
