Opening Women's Council Center in al-Deria, al-Tayar

In order to advance the status of women and to organize women in al-Raqqa city, Women's Office at al-Raqqa Civil Council opened a Women's Council Center in al-Tayar and al-Deria neighborhood during an official opening ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by members of al-Raqqa's Civil Council, members of the Free Syrian Women's Council, the Internal Security Forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces, as well as representatives of local councils in al-Raqqa.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence followed by two speeches on behalf of the Syrian Women's Office, which was given by the member Swad Mohammed, and on behalf of the Women's Council in al- Deria and al-Tayar neighborhoods Zahra Awad.

The words blessed the opening of the council center to all women in al-Raqqa city.

"This council will organize women and activate their role to carry out their duties in the process of building and educating the community," said the Women's Office.

"We want to rid women of the reality they live in a society dominated by outdated customs and traditions, and that has increased the control of IS mercenaries," Zahra al-Awad said on behalf of the Women's Council.

The opening ribbon was then cut by a member of the Women's Council.
