Engineering battalion launched 1st service projects in al-Tabqa

The Engineering battalion of the Syrian Democratic Forces begins its first service work by installing an iron bridge on the road that connects al-Tabqa city with al-Jerniya town at the site of Khirbet al-Shefrat village.

The 20-member engineering battalion began the construction of the 30-meter-long bridge, located 45 kilometers north of al-Tabqa city in order to shorten the distance to al-Jernia of about 10 kilometers.

It is noteworthy that IS blasted the bridge during al-Tabqa liberation campaign in an attempt to stop the progress of the Syria's Democratic Forces at that time.

In this regard, the commander of the battalion Zagros Jekdar said, "These projects come to serve the people of the area, and to facilitate communication between the liberated areas."

Jekdar assured, "The completion of the project came with the assistance of the International Alliance which contributed to securing and installing the bridge in terms of training the elements of the engineering battalion and providing heavy equipment necessary for this process."

At the end of the meeting, the commander Zagros Jekdar promised to continue to work on processing all the damaged bridges and road nodes after receiving the necessary machineries and equipment from the supporting bodies."

It should be noted that the engineering battalion related to the Syrian Democratic Forces underwent a training course lasted for more than 20 days during which the elements received theoretical and practical lessons in the art of building bridges under the supervision of engineers and specialists in this field.
