Displaced: With SDF we feel safe, hoping to liberate our city

Al-Bukamal city is one of the areas belonging to the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor located on the Syrian-Iraqi border was seized by IS mercenaries five years ago, and continued until the control of the regime forces since the beginning of this year.

In the aftermath of the battles between IS mercenaries and the Syrian regime, the city witnessed a great mass displacement to the north areas of Syria, liberated by Syrian Democratic Forces, especially on east and south of al-Hasakah's countryside, and the Northern countryside of al-Raqqa, which were lived inside the camps (al-Karama - Ain Issa - al-Hol - and random camps in different areas)

The displaced people of al-Bukamal who were currently living in Ain Issa camp and during a meeting with Hawar news agency, talked about the difficult conditions they had been through during the presence of IS mercenaries during the clashes that took place between them and the Syrian regime, which left a lot of destruction and devastation behind them.

Hussein Ali, a resident of al-Bukamal city, said "During the presence of ISIS in al-Bu Kamal area, life was completely non-existent and the mercenaries robbed us of everything and looted all our possessions."

"When the regime forces advanced in the area, al-Bukamal city witnessed fierce battles between them and IS mercenaries, which led to causing great destruction in the area in addition to the displacement of hundreds of people."

"When we were bombed by the air force, we took refuge had in the areas of SDF because we heard about them as the only forces that protect and shelter the oppressed," Hussein said.

Regarding the displaced in the camp, the services provided in the camp are good and all the displaced people are assisted without discrimination and all the necessary supplies are available.

"We want these brave forces to liberate our area, too, to get back to our homes,"

The displaced Fawzia also stressed that the obstacle facing their return to their city is the result of the presence of the regime forces there and that the massacres are committed daily against the people who are present through bombardment and explosive warplanes and also because the regime forces resort to arrest their youth and take them to military service and their participation on the fronts of fighting.

The displaced person, Anoud al-Jasem, expressed her happiness for her presence in the areas of SDF and said that life returned to her when she entered these lands.

"Throughout our stay in al-Bukamal, we suffered the woes at the hands of the dominant forces, but when we had displaced to Ain Issa camp we felt safe and stable, so here we had have the chance to continue our studies and also to enter into work or employment projects to help our families.
