The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan began his efforts to consolidate his authority in the Turkish state, where he released on Wednesday a decree that transfers some powers from the Prime Minister to the President of the Republic.

On Wednesday, a decree was released in Turkey that transfers some powers to the head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan in light of the country's transition to the executive presidency.

The decree officially published introduces an amendment to the laws dating from 1924 to 2017. The reference will be changed from the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers to the President and the Office of the President.

Under the new system, the post of prime minister would be abolished and the president would be able to issue decrees to form ministries and dismiss government officials without parliament approval.

The result of the recent elections is the adoption of a new presidential system supported by a simple majority in the 2017 referendum, which the opposition considered "a major threat to Turkey."

Presidential and parliamentary elections were held in the state of emergency declared since the failed coup attempt in 2016.

Observers warned of the policies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and questioned his objectives in expanding his powers, which is accompanied by major internal, regional, international challenges and an internal economic and political crisis putting at the table two choices, either to change his course or drown in the Sultan’s narcissism.

Observers and politicians fear that Erdogan's goal of these measures is to hit the secularism of the Turkish state and to devote his project of the Islamization of Turkey.
