People’s Municipality in al-Shahba provide services to parents by autonomous capabilities

Afrin people who were forced out of their homes following the Turkish aggression on Afrin headed toward al-Shahba canton since 18 March. The people gathered in one uninhabited place, demanding great and quick services, and this is what the People's Municipality in al- Shahba did.

Al-Shahba canton, which was destroyed by Turkish occupation army's gangs and IS mercenaries in 2015, had a fragile infrastructure. All public and vital facilities were destroyed by mercenaries until they were liberated by Jaish al-Thuwar.

On the requirements of the local administration to al-Shahba canton, the Co-chair of the local administration and municipalities of al-Shahba canton Fayek Ahmed, said "The main problem was the provision of drinking water and the needs of the residents were met by 90% in cooperation with the municipalities of al-Shahba, by providing generators to pump water from wells, and the transfer of water to the people through tanks and the price of 50 SP per barrel, and there are specialized committees to ensure the validity of water that was safe to drink.

Ahmed added, "Electricity generators are provided for the provision of electricity, and each house is provided one ampere free of charge for 6 hours continuously," said Ahmed. "Service cars was provided to transport the people between the villages because the villages are far from each other."

Ahmad noted, "We are currently cooperating with the municipalities in al-Shahba to repair the roads between villages and towns, according to the possibilities available to us, while tractors are taking tours every day of the week to collect garbage in villages and towns."

The Co-chairs of the local administration and municipalities of al-Shahba canton Faiq Ahmed concluded appealing to the international organizations to provide assistance to them to fill people's needs.
