A family fleeing Turkey, gangs’ violations arrive to al-Shahba

Citizen (Y-B), from the people of the Maratê village like other Afrin people who are existing in the canton, could not leave his village when the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries entered Afrin canton on March 18, but was able to get out with his father, wife and three children to safe shelter in al-Shahba canton After 3 days on walking on foot.

Hawar news agency (ANHA) held an interview with the citizen (Y-B) to know how he left the canton and what is happening now in Afrin.

"We would like to get out of the village, but my father was subjected to a stroke that we had to take him to Avrin Hospital and when we were waiting for his recovery to get out of the canton, the mercenaries occupied the village, and so we were besieged in the village."

Mercenaries do not differentiate between an elderly and children in their brutal treatment

He pointed out that "mercenaries were threatening the people who were trying to get out of the canton and some of the people who insisted on going out to be beaten by mercenaries, there is no difference between an elderly person or a child in the treatment of mercenaries with the parents, which made most people hide in their homes for fear on their lives."

We walked for three days until we got to al-Shahba

Citizen (Y-B) added, "We rode a car to get out of our village of Maratê and go to Afrin city under the pretext of treating my father who is suffering from diseases. After our arrival in the city, we started walking through the mountains from Ternada village to the village of Aqiba, our march took three days."

The mercenaries made us like a body without spirit

"The reason that motivated us to go out is the violations of the mercenaries and occupation army against the people, who used to raid the houses, kidnap civilians, kill them and accuse the people of fake pretexts.  When Turkey claimed that it was helping the people through the distribution of aid by night, the mercenaries were entering houses and looting it by force, amid Turkish silence on their actions, these reasons were sufficient to bear the difficulties and risks to get out of Afrin."

We saw the safety we lost months ago when we arrived to al-Shahba

Citizen (Y-B) said, "When we arrived at al-Shahbaa, we felt safe as the people here enjoy love, trust and peace among them. We could not believe that we would survive the mercenaries’ hell in Afrin. Life there is no longer possible there."

After the arrival of the citizen (Y-B) to al-Shahba canton, the administration of Serdem camp gave him a tent to accommodate in the camp, and provided him with all the necessities.

Since the entry of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on the 18th of last March, Afrin people were exposed to severely torture, murder, looting and theft, while the fate of hundreds of people are still unknown.
