Mercenaries arrested, weapons seized during eliminating sleeper cells

In order to clean the area of sleeper cells belonging to IS mercenaries and some parties associated with external agendas which spread in Deir ez-Zor countryside, Deir ez-Zor Military Council continues its campaigns to eliminate these terrorist gangs.

Deir ez-Zor Military Council seized a number of weapons, mines and a booby-trapped motorbike that was prepared to blast, especially in Shehail and al-Ziban and al-Zer villages which are parallel to the Euphrates River.

The weapons seized by the Council are a number of Kalashnikovs, Bernos, and a quantity of ammunition, Wi-Fi networks and radios.

During the operation which is still ongoing by Deir ez-Zor Military Council, dozens of sleeper cells of IS mercenaries whose names were in the list of the wanted and who used to wreak havoc in the area and strike the security and stability in villages and towns.

It is worth mentioning that Deir ez-Zor Military Council has earlier issued a statement in this regard. The statement included, "Recently, in Deir ez-Zor, there were many movements of sleeper cells of the Euphrates' Shield, al-Qaeda Organization and the Syrian regime at the same time targeting the civilians and the soldiers. We have sacrificed so many martyrs in this period, and their operations took place by booby trapped vehicles or motorbikes or planting explosive devices on the roads, and do not distinguish between the civilians and soldiers.

The campaign was managed by Deir ez-Zor Military Council and came to meet the demands of the people and the clans’ notables and elders to comb the villages and arrest sleeper cells that used to target the civilians before the fighters.
