People's Municipality finds solution to Ain Issa camp's swamp

In response to the complaints of the displaced and Ain Issa people in the Euphrates region of North Syria, People's Municipality in the district began today, in coordination with the camp administration, to dig a reservoir of sewage water that forms a swamp near the camp.

The ground tank is a 25-meter, 5-meter-wide, 3-meter-deep pit made of concrete.

According to the municipality, work on digging the reservoir will continue for a month.

The sewage of the camp has formed a swamp where one of the organizations had previously extended sewage networks, but did not find a solution for the disposal of water. The water pool formed a swamp in the southern part of the camp, which exceeded 2,000 square meters.

The odors that come out of the swamp cause great inconvenience to the displaced and the people of the district ,in addition to the spread of diseases because it is the focus of the gathering of insects that lead to the spread of diseases.

In this regard, a member of the technical committee in the People's Municipality in Ain Issa district , Othman Bozan, noted that digging a ground reservoir is the best solution to the problem of the swamp.

Bozan added "The municipality has put in place an emergency solution, which consists of withdrawing the water from the swamp through tanks as an emergency solution to reduce the water from it because the discharge continues to it 24 hours."

Bozan noted that the municipality chose to dig the reservoir beside the swamp so as not to damage the road and water networks and optical cables in the area.
