The Commander of the Women Protection Units (YPJ) Zilan Kobani named after the name of the struggler Zilan, is now struggling in the arena of resistance to achieve her hopes and objectives.

On June 30, 1996, the Zilan carried out her commando operation to be a message against the attacks of the Turkish enemy on the Kurdistan Liberation Movement, the assassination attempt of leader Abdullah Ocelan in 1996 in the Syrian capital Damascus, and the Turkish occupation forces launched a major campaign against  the children of the Kurdish people by conducting military combing and killing and genocide against the Kurdish people, this guerrilla operation became a message to all tyrants and enemies who are trying to undermine the gains of the Kurdish people.

Martyrdom of the struggler Zainap Kinaci Zilan has affected thousands of Kurdish, Arab, Syrian, and Turkish women, and many of the fighters have adopted her her name "Zilan", following her and her struggle, and marched on her path.

The commander of the Women Protection Units (YPJ) Zilan Kobani is one of the Arab women who joined the ranks of the (YPJ) and took the name of the struggler Zilan a name for her, because she wanted to walk on the path of freedom for the struggler Zilan.

The commander Zilan Kobani pointed out that it is not possible for everyone to hold the name of Zilan and to walk on her path. She said, "Martyr Zilan was of great power, and that is why I adopted her name and walked on her approach to struggle. The approach of women's freedom is the approach of the martyr Zilan. So fore me and all women who hold the name "Zilan” we should be capable following her example in struggle.

She added “I did not remain silent in the face of the enemy's violations and conspiracies," she explained. "I am proud to be named Zilan, because I have come to know the truth of freedom and free women through martyr Zilan. The symbol of freedom for all women of the world."

At the end of her speech, the leadership of the Women's Protection Units Zilan Kobani confirmed that they will march on the path of the martyr Zilan until the end. "I have fought Zilan and all the fighters, I will be on their way to the end," she said.
