From Zilan to Avista .... continuous resistance

Zilan carried out the first Guerrilla operation of its kind in the history of the movement of Kurdish women's freedom against the Turkish enemy to penetrate the pages of history and to set an example for all women who eager to freedom.

From a normal day to a great historic day

June 30, 1996 was not a normal day but a hellish day for the enemy. Zilan carried out its Guerrilla operation to be a message against the attacks of the Turkish enemy on the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and against the assassination of leader Abdullah Ocelan in 1996 in Damascus, In addition to the Turkish occupation forces launched a large campaign against the children of the Kurdish people by conducting military sweeps and killing and genocide against the Kurdish people, this guerrilla operation has become a message to all tyrants and enemies who are trying to undermine the gains of the Kurdish people and break his will.

Who is Zilan ? who has been turned Turkish State upside down.

Zainab Kanaji, known as Zilan, at 24-year-old young woman from Malatya city  in north Bakur, was a psychologist and married. She had known of the  Kurdistan Liberation Movement during her university studies and in 1994 she took part in the frontier activities in Adana city for one year and then decided to join the ranks of Guerilla in the state of Dirsem to continue the struggle in the mountains of Kurdistan, where he did not accept humiliation and submissiveness under the control of the Turkish state occupied, which tried to suppress years of voice and identity of the Kurdish people, but its will was stronger and refused to surrender to the enemy.

A year after Zillan joined the ranks of Guerilla , a year of training and self-identification, a general in the mountains of Kurdistan, Zilan decided to carry out its guerrilla operation in the center of Dirsem city  against the Turkish forces during the ceremony raising their flag, loaded with eight kilograms of explosives "TNT" Iron and two hand grenades. The outcome of the operation was the killing of 18 high-ranking officers and 21 wounded.

In this operation, Zilan planted terror and fear among the ranks of the Turkish army forces, which was a  hit in the history of the Turkish state as the first operation of its kind, which was considered a new tactic in the face of the enemy.

Zilan turned the ashes of her body into a torch to illuminate the path of all Kurdish women, who saved the Kurdish Liberation Movement from the conspiracies that were being waged against it and sent a clear message to the enemy that the Kurdish people refuse to surrender and submissive and that the Kurdish woman can turned her body from ashes to burning blocks of Fire if it feels a threat to the future of its freedom and resistance.

Zilan has become of symbol in every home and in the heart of every child and elderly. A narrate storywhich mothers tell these to their children before going to sleep is a real, realistic story, not a mythical one.

History repeats itself with the fighter Avista

After Zilan,  many of the fighters who sought freedom and made their bodies a bridge lighted the path of women's freedom. Among them were RiVana and Arin in Kobani, the last of was Avista Khabuor, who made her body armor and trench against Turkish tanks and fascist missiles in Afrin region .

Avista Khabuor, a daughter of the mountains that refuses to surrender, was born in Belyia village belonging to Bulbul district in Afrin whose age is  at 20 years old.

 Avista was a fighter in Women Protection Units (YPJ)and then joined the anti-terrorist units to defend the cause, values ​​and land of its people in the face of terrorism and the chauvinism of the Turkish state and its allies in the international silence about the massacres committed against its people in Afrin.

On the eighth day of Resistance of the Age in Afrin and on January 27, in the village of Hammam border belonging to Janders district in Afrin region  and the village was exposed to aircraft raids and the bombing of Turkish tanks and supported by Jabhit al-Nusra on land, the fighter Avista Khabuor of counter-terrorism units are distinguished by courage and determination and follow in the footsteps Arin ,Mirkan and Rivan Kobani, followed Zilan's approach by attacking one of the tanks that was heading towards the village. The heroine Avista attacked the tank and carried out her Guerilla operation.
