After Kobani's massacre... people have become stronger

Kobani city and Burg Buttan village 27 kilometers south of the city woke up with a bloody dawn. Where elements of Islamic State’s gangs infiltrated riding 12 military vehicle (8 of them into Kobani and 4 to Burg Buttan village) and began killing all everyone they encountered young and elderly.

The massacre of Kobani city and Burg Buttan village, which left 231 martyrs victims all of them were civilians, while hundreds of others were wounded, was absolute shock to the people of the region who have not witnessed a similar massacre, some say it is the second largest massacre committed by Islamic Stata’s gangs in Syria.

Why Kobani?

Perhaps the question that is written above is the most important question that concerns all those who lived in the moments of the massacre and who watched or heard of it. Of course, the reasons why we can fill this vacuum are many.

The story began on 15 September 2014, a day when Islamic State's gangs mobilized their forces towards Kobani city, which was besieged from its four sides; Turkey is besieging the Syrian northern and Daesh the east, west and south.

Prior to that date, on August 3 of the same year, Islamic State's gangs attacked Şengal province which population is majorly Yezidi Kurds and committed a massacre that claimed the lives of thousands of women, children and an elderly, in addition to the kidnapping of thousands of others. How were all these events the first steps that prepared for Kobani massacre?

After Islamic State's gangs began their battle against Kobani, they quickly arrived in the city and controlled more than 350 neighboring villages, but things did not go as planned by the elements of (IS) who wanted to dominate Kobani city in few days as happened in the villages, but People Protection Units (YPG) foiled their plans and continued so fiercely that it was liberated after 134 days of continuous fighting inside its walls.

This resistance has reverberated in international forums and People Protection Units (YPG) have become the only active forces on the ground that can fight against of Islamic State's gangs. Therefore, it has enjoyed high western support, which has not been respected by the enemies of the Kurdish people Turkey on top of it.

Kobani victories have greatly influenced the situation in Syria, Turkey and Iraq of course, Kobani's massacre was a retaliation for the gains gained by the region thanks to the struggle that took place in that city, and the aim was to try to reconstruct the scenario of the battle of Kobani and to empty the city and its villages of its population.

How the enemy failed to achieve the full goals of the massacre!

What can be confirmed is that the aim of the massacre was not only to kill 231 persons, enemies of the Kurdish people would not miss the opportunity to kill every Kurd wherever they were. The goals of this massacre, as mentioned above, were determined.

Revenge, the killing of the largest number of civilians, emptying the area of its population, inflicting a blow the revolution of Rojava, which entered a new phase after Kobani's battle and reduce its impact in addition to trying to re-scenario the attacks of September 15, 2014 on the same city and the occupancy of People Protection Units (YPG) from the main objective that to fight IS gangs.

If we compare the conditions that followed the massacre, we will see clearly that these goals have not been achieved. Although dozens of families have been hurt and dozens of children remain orphaned and women are widowed, the people are stronger. They have joined with the military forces and broke the attack during the massacre in a short time. The forces are defending the martyrs of the massacre of Kobani, this revenge is still ongoing till this day for their souls.
