Sweets, Eid clothing ... Ritual inherited by families of Deir ez-Zor's countryside

During the last week of Ramadan, housewives start buying holiday supplies in an inherited tradition, including the needs to make sweets in different species.

In al-Jazrat market, which continues to sell its spices, and holiday items, the shopkeepers offer their goods that fascinate the spectators and push the passersby to the market to enjoy the exhibits even if they do not want to buy, the view itself is a powerful driving force in the market.

ANHA agency camera toured in this popular market and observed the overcrowding by women to buy cocoa, sugar, almonds, walnuts, pistachio, flour and spices.

Um Rabie, a resident of al-Mayadein, living in al-Jazrat of the eastern suburb of Deir ez-Zor, said that she went shopping and bought the necessities of the Eid and household sweets, she noticed that prices are lower than in previous years. She pointed out that she always comes to al-Jazrat market because it contains the best and finest raw materials for the manufacture of sweets at special prices.

Um Rabie said that the beautiful Ramadan rituals returned to them and thanked the Syrian Democratic Forces for their safety after the great victory they had achieved in liberating their areas.

Despite the difficult economic conditions, the sweets of Eid have a special joy, so families are keen to save money to prepare the ingredients of the Eid, said Um Rabie.

Yones al- Yones, one of the owners of shops for children's and women's clothing, confirmed that the shops are witnessing an active movement in late Ramadan and that the turnout this year is different from the previous years, as most of the families have returned to purchase their requirements as in the past.
