Afrin: Continuing arrests, clashes

The mercenaries of the Turkish occupation army continue arresting the people of Afrin canton under false pretexts after the military campaign of the occupation that began on the 20th of January. In this context, the mercenaries that are directly supported by the Turkish occupation army arrested dozens of people from Mobata district and its villages in the light of the continuous clashes among the mercenary factions throughout the canton.

The violations of Turkish occupation army are increasing day by day against the people of Afrin canton due to the implementation of arbitrary policies of demographic change, cultural annihilation and even extortion.

A local source (M - B) from the villages of Meidana village in Rajo district in Afrin canton noted that the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries destroyed several houses that belong to the civilians in the village of Sêmala, 40 km north of Afrin, with the bulldozers on the pretext of belonging to the People and Women Protection Units on Sunday afternoon.

The source pointed out that the mercenaries have uprooted dozens of olive trees and vineyards in Meidana villages under false pretexts such as belonging to military forces or political parties, while all the people of the area are known of being the owners the vineyards, trees and houses as civilians were working in agriculture.

In a related context, another local source in Mobata district (H - M) said that intermittent clashes erupt among the mercenary factions at late hours every night, and the last of which was two days ago as clashes broke out with medium and light arms near the water tank in the south of the center due to their differences over the stolen properties. Moreover, the clashes resulted in injuring Amina Mustafa Shaabo with various wounds.

The same source pointed out that the mercenaries have raided houses in Mobata district and arrested a group of young people in the district. According to the source, the detainees are subjected to the most severe torture and humiliation in the prisons of the Turkish occupation.

The kidnapping did not stop only in the last two days. The Turkish mercenaries arrested one of al-Ashrafieh neighborhood’s people in Afrin city who is from Turkish origins, popularly known as Qara Benja and his real name is Hussein Chichak. He was later taken to Entebbe city by Aqrab military vehicle.
