(OPCW) finds evidence of using chlorine in Saraqib

On Wednesday, Prohibition Chemical Weapons Organization (OPCW) confirmed that chlorine gas was most likely used as a chemical weapon in an attack on the Syrian city of Saraqib in February.

A statement issued by (OPCW) stated that the investigation mission found that chlorine had been released from the cylinders at the collision in Tallil neighborhood in Saraqib in February 4.

The results of the investigation team were based on finding two cylinders containing chlorine found and those samples were taken from the area and indicated that the presence of an abnormal quantity of chlorine in the local environment.

The organization has not held any party in the seven-year-old Syrian war the responsible for the use of chlorine.

The agency confirmed that it had interviewed witnesses and found that consistent symptoms with exposure to chlorine appeared on a number of patients in the medical foundations shortly after the incident.

The organization's director Ahmed Ozumjo said, "I strongly condemn the use of poisonous substances as weapons by anyone, whatever the cause would be and under any circumstances.
