Site "Jagger Bazaar" one of archaeological in al-Jazeera region

Jagger Bazar or (Ashnkum) oldest archaeological hill in al-Jazeera region , according to studies and research, located south of the Amouda district, 48 km.

The Jagger Bazaar is considered one of the important sites since the ancient Bronze Age and the Mediator. Its importance is reflected in its strategic location, which made it a link between many areas and the Mediterranean coasts. It is also located in a fertile, fertile area of ​​12 hectares and 21 meters high.

Research and excavations of Jäger (Ashnkum) began in 1935 by Belgian and British missions and by the Antiquities Authority in al-Jazeera region recently. The excavations revealed various stages dating back to the 8th century BC, as well as 15 accumulated cultural strata ranging from 1500 to 3000 BC .

Among the most important archeology discovered after the excavations and studies were the cuneiform figures, which mentioned the registration of births, deaths, religious and administrative issues related to the registration of herders' rations and the receipt of fodder, and it was found that one-third of the population who had previously lived in Ashnkum .

As well as discovery of many types of pottery such as small and medium jars, cups and bowls and large jars for storage of grain, and were all decorated with different designs and monochrome colors such as black, red, brown and geometric patterns.

Hawar news agency (ANHA) interviewed Ali Abdi talked about Jagger Bazaar and why is taking this name ?

"There was a large market in Jagger previously containing a lot of shops and the people exchange their goods and the bazaars are located, and the proportion of the so-called Jagger Bazaar, and was inhabited by a lot of ingredients such as Kurds, Armenians, Arabs and Assyrians, but with time migrated much and did not leave In the town of Jagger only Kurdish and Arab components."

Abdi pointed out in his conclusion to the great effort exerted by the Antiquities Authority in al-Jazeera region to protect the ancient heritage to remain a reference for future generations and the basis of the future civilizations.
