Determined, willing to achieve her goals, she faced challenges

Sari Kushan is a Kurdish language teacher in al-Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood, despite her permanent disability, which is the amputation of her right foot, but she insists on living her life by doing what she likes and benefits the community.

A medical error at birth was the reason for amputation of her right foot that this disability accompanied her throughout her life, she suffered greatly in her childhood and life because of her special health condition, but she has challenged the difficulties with strong will.

Sari began to learn Kurdish in 2013, where she got the three levels of Kurdish and says she eager and enthusiastic to learn the Kurdish language, when the opportunity knocked the door, she did not hesitate, she hurried to attend classes and learn her native language.

Sari says that her main motivation was to become a Kurdish language teacher, because she wanted to have a role in the Rojava revolution, so she chose the teaching profession.

During the war period in al-Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood, Sari did not sit at home without work, but began to give lessons to children who were deprived of learning during the war.

After a period of experience in teaching and enhancing her Kurdish language, Sari joined the Kurdish Language Academy in Afrin to return to al-Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood and continue to practice as a Kurdish language teacher.

Sari tried to teach children in school, but she did not succeed because children's education needed a teacher to interact with children's activities and constant movements, where she was unable to do because of her disability.

She is currently working as an administrator for the Teachers Union within Democratic Society Education Committee in Aleppo, as well as giving Kurdish language lessons to al-Asayîş and municipal members.

Sari says that her family is the main supporter in every step she takes thanks to their support, she managed to overcome many of the obstacles she encountered in her life, especially during her childhood. She was harassed at school or in the street. She was upset by the different treatment she received because of her special health condition.

Sari also asserts that her colleagues were her first fans to realize her dream of becoming a Kurdish language teacher and show that she is currently facing no difficulties or harassment from anyone, on the contrary, everyone is helping and respecting her.

Sari's sent a message to every person suffering from a special health condition or permanent disability, "to challenge these obstacles and not be frustrated by any position they face during their life, as difficulties create the successful person, and who persevere to achieve their goal will deliver the results of labor.”
