Season of bean harvest begins

The farmers began to harvest the bean crop in Girê Sipî canton and the woman who played the main role in the crop-harvesting process.

The farmers in North Syria and Girê Sipî begin growing bean fields in November. Bean is a staple crop that grows well in North Syria along with wheat, barley, lentils and chickpeas.

On these days of May, farmers begin to harvest beans. The women of the village of Ali Bajili in Girê Sipî canton, like all other women in North Syria, are harvesting the crop, this year, because of the Turkish occupation’s restraint of Jalab River, the crops have been damaged, including beans, and production has not been good. However, the villager women go to the bean fields in the morning to harvest the crop.

Bajili women have headed at 8 am to the fields to harvest the beans. After the harvesting process, the beans are collected and transported.

Kaffa al-Hamid has talked about the work of harvesting bean crop and pointed out that the village women cooperate in harvesting the crop and the bean crop has a role in improving the economic situation of the people in the village.
