The press office of the Armenian Prime Minister quoted that the Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan resigned his post on Monday, and the office quoted from his speech, "I am addressing you for the last time as the leader of the state, Nicole Bashnian was right and I made a mistake in the current situation. There are several solutions to the current situation, but I will not take one of them, I will leave the post of leader of the state."

Sargsyan said in a press conference, "This is my wish, and I am sure it is the wish of all our citizens that there would not be a need to declare a state of emergency in the country, not only now, but also in the future."

The protests against the election of Serzh Sargsyan as Prime Minister began on Friday, April 13th, as the opposition accused the former president of mismanaging the country’s affairs and worsening its economic conditions.
